Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which
has been practised in India for well over a thousand years and first introduced
into the UK in 1973 by Narendra Mehta.
Indian Head Massage is a safe and effective therapy which helps treat a variety of conditions such as insomnia, headaches, migraines, sinus problems and fatigue.
The MB Holistic Therapy Indian head Massage treatment consists of a series of massage movements to the upper back, shoulders, neck, upper arms, scalp and face. It is a highly effective technique, stimulating circulation, reducing muscles tension and thus reducing stress and stress related conditions leaving the client feeling very relaxed and with sense of well-being.
The treatment takes place in a calm and relaxing environment, the client remaining fully clothed and comfortably seated throughout. Oils are not used although a small amount of cream may be used on the face to give a more soothing facial massage.
Treatments are usually carried out at MB Holistic Therapies in Glasshoughton, however in certain circumstances it is possible to arrange for the treatment to be carried out at a client's home or business premises - an extra charge would be incurred to cover time and and travelling cost.
It is recommended that the client wears, or brings with them, comfortable clothes to change into for the treatment - eg loose trousers and a tee shirt (changing facilities are available)
Some of the massage movements used in Indian head massage are:-
- friction - energetic movements that warm up the muscles and allow them to soften for deeper tissue massage
- petrissage - kneading and rolling movements to aid the removal of toxins.
- tapotement - light, brisk striking movements which stimulating the body
- effleurage - gentle stroking or soothing movements that increase circulation are very calming, and have a soporific effect
Cost of treatment = £20 per 45 minute treatment session.
