About
MB Holistic Therapies based in Glasshoughton, Castleford, West Yorkshire is owned and run by Mary Burdes a Kinesiologist and Holistic Practitioner.
Mary has been interested and actively involved in holistic and complementary therapies since the mid 1990's. At first it was a very interesting intriguing hobby - totally different and alien to the "day job" working in the telecoms industry.
Over the years Mary (as a life long learner and workshop junkie) has attended many courses and workshops relating to holistic and complementary healing. At first concentrating on the so called Ågbody workÅh therapies such as of massage, aromatherapy and reflexology, all of which work to reduce a persons stress levels, relaxing the body thus allowing its own innate wisdom and capacity for healing to kick in to bring the body into balance.
Mary soon became "hooked" and intrigued at the potential for the body to heal itself, not only from the everyday conditions that seem to plague our society, but also with the more serious and life threatening illness that are so prevalent today, she began to explore the more esoteric therapies that had begun to emerge.
Becoming interested in Reiki Seichem Tera Mai™, at first the Usui system, later Secheim. Mary reached Master /Teacher Practitioner status in 2006. During this period she read and learnt about a myriad of holistic healing methods and attended many workshops for example on Quantum Touch and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Still the journey wasn't complete and in the late '90s Mary discovered, quite by chance, Touch for Health, which led onto Health Kinesiology. completing her Health Kinesiology Training to a Professional Standard with Jane Thurnell - Read in January 2001.
After her retirement from the commercial world Mary spent a short time in 2006, working as a therapist with Phoenix Aid in Bosnia, her travelling companion was Linda Bentley a Classical Kinesiologist. Mary was very impressed with the results Linda achieved with one particular physcially disabled man, (he had had two strokes), who had lost all hope of ever working again. After intense daily treatments he became much more optimistic and was able to lift his arm and shoulder once again.
The results obtained in Sarajevo led to Mary embarking on a course in Classical Kinesiology with the Classical Kinesiology Institute in Leicester. She completed the Foundation Course in 2007, the Practitioner's Course in 2008 and is continuing to study towards the Classical Kinesiology Institutes's Diploma in Kinesiology - which she hopes will be completed by the end of 2010.
Courses associated with and completed under the Classical Kinesiology remit include:
- Naturopathy and Nutrition,
- Chakra Vital Force Balance
- PRANA (Polarity Reflex Nutritional Analysis)
- Cyberkinetics
- Understanding Disease from a Medical Aspect
- Phytobiophysics
Mary has worked with many diverse groups and individuals
